ABOUT US

My whole life, I have always loved dogs. As a little girl, my room was decorated with posters of dogs. I would spend hours studying a book of dog breeds and I had all their characteristics memorized. We owned two dogs and my parents taught me that caring for our dogs meant walking them every day. We had beautiful trails through the woods behind my house in Cape Breton and this is how my love for hiking grew.
As an adult, I have had the joy of owning the most lovely dogs. I have learned many lessons through the friendships I’ve had with each dog and we’ve hiked many trails together. Nothing brings me greater happiness than watching the pure joy of my dogs as we explore the forest! Such a simple gift I give them and they thank me with their unconditional love.
Years of exploring with my dogs has taught me the importance of being safe on the trail. I decided that knowing dog first aid was a must! Dogs can have accidents and get into trouble. Sometimes their impulsiveness can cause them to be injured and as their guardians, it’s our job to make sure we can give them the best care in these situations, minutes count!
I decided to combine my hiking experience and my first aid knowledge to offer training in canine first aid and hiking safety. I have three dogs now that will help me with some of my demonstrations. Bruin is a 10 year old golden doodle who we have also had since he was 7 weeks old. He is very obedient but loves people so much he has a hard time staying on the ground! Tuukka is 6 and was 3 months when we got him. He is very energetic and loves playing ball. Holly is a 1 year old pug who we have had since she was 3 months old. She may be small but she can keep up with the big dogs!  All my dogs are agile hikers and love being on the trail.
